Breastfeeding in a Soccer Book

tricolor-a soccer book featurin breastfeeding

My 4yo is all into soccer. Therefore we’re playing soccer a lot and of course checking out books about soccer.

I’ve found myself –not a soccer fan at all- reading interesting soccer photo books from different countries, including Tricolor, by Ramiro Almeida, a book about the Ecuadorian Soccer Team and its journey to our first participation in the FIFA Worldcup, in Japan 2002.

I was surprised I could actually enjoy a book about soccer, and the reason this became my favorite among others is that it shows daily life images both in Ecuador and Japan, featuring a bunch of images about the soccer culture in Ecuador.

I was surprised to find a photo of a female player making a break of her soccer match to breastfeed her baby. The picture is presented among others featuring the quotidian, no issues with public breastfeeding or thoughts on its benefits. The photo comment states that soccer is not opposed to feminity or motherhood, hence looking at breastfeeding just as part of motherhood.

Then, among the following pages I found a photo featuring a family bed during a soccer match TV broadcast. This is for sure another image of our daily lives.

What about in your culture? Have you found natural parenting images in non related information?

Breastfeeding Landmark in Ibarra, Ecuador

breastfeeding landmark in Ibarra, EcuadorJust got back from Carnival Holidays. We went to Ibarra, 2 hours to the north from Quito. This means we had to cross the equator line to the North Hemisphere ;)

My mom is from Ibarra and we have close relatives there, so it’s a common destination for us.

One thing I’m sure natural parents would love from Ibarra is this statue located at the city’s entrance. Public breastfeeding is obviously widely accepted there. We need more of this kind worldwide!
