Middle Name Pride Day
Did you know today’s Middle Name Pride Day?
Me neither, but just saw it on my calendar and thought it would be fun to share about this. It’s celebrated the Friday of the first full week of March (this year it’s March 6th.)
I know it depends on the country and culture. Here in Ecuador most people is given a middle name. Some are even given more than one, like my mom (only girl among 13 kids.)
My middle name is María, a pretty common name in Spanish as you might guess. My sister’s first name is also María, and my late Grandma’s and Great Grandma’s. I didn’t like it much when I was younger because it was so common, but never felt bad about it or liked a better option.
Now I’m glad I was given a middle name. Monica Salazar happens to be very common in Spanish. I’ve just tried Google searching my name and got lots of results for Monica Salazar, the character of a TV drama. No wonder, my name is not available as a web domain.
Do you have a middle name? Are you proud of it or do you prefer to keep it top secret?

My middle name is Michele, with one L, not two. It’s my mother’s first name. It’s the feminine version of Michael, which is my [ex] Husband’s name LOL
Gwynne, I didn’t know there was a feminine version of Michael. In Spanish Michael is Miguel, but I can’t think on a possible feminine version of the name.
